About the Enrichment Program

Happy Fourth Anniversary to the Enrichment Program! In the fall of 2003 we opened our doors with the belief that University of Denver had much to offer those of us who love to learn simply for the joy of it. Short courses offered by hand-picked scholars, classes that often include a special experience or event; discerning participants engaged in serious discussions; and no grades, exams, or admission requirements—these are the ingredients, we have learned, that make the Enrichment Program so popular.

Adults of all ages come to the beautiful DU campus to pursue topics of special interest, develop new skills, or discuss current issues. Participants and professors alike remark at how refreshing it is to discover provocative subjects in the company of like-minded peers. Thank you to everyone who joins us in creating these unforgettable experiences.

This season, we present you with 48 courses, events, and one-of-a-kind opportunities. Our current events section is filled with topics of state, national, and global interest, such as Politics 2008: Battles from the Statehouse to the Whitehouse taught by John Andrews and David Sirota, members of the Denver Post’s popular “Gang of Four.” Join these two political experts to analyze the major themes in the 2008 elections.

Writing and applied art courses help people discover talents they never knew they had. You won’t want to miss The Writing and Editing of Virginia Woolf taught by Woolf expert Eleanor McNees in preparation for the 18th Annual International Conference on Virginia Woolf to be held this summer on the University of Denver campus.

Cultural Connections courses provide intimate experiences in music, culture, dance, theater, and the arts. Spend an evening at Denver's Cook Street School of Fine Cooking for an immersion in the history, foods, and wines of the spice trade route. Learn about the revival of Tango through a six-evening study of Buenos Aires Tango and attendance at The Denver International Tango Festival, one of the largest Tango festivals in the country.

Wow! With so much to choose from, you will need to find time to study this catalog carefully. Please let us know how we can continue to make learning a part of your life!
